798-0188-01This FIN highlights the precautions that should be followed if performing Solaris Operating Environment upgrades on the system with Sun StorEdge RAID Manager software installed, Absence of these precautions could result in data loss or possibly the data corruption. When upgrading from Solaris 2.6 to any higher Solaris version, a copy of the file /kernel/drv/sd.conf needs to be backed up and then restored after the upgrade. If this action is not taken then an upgrade will result in repeated error messages upon boot up and an inability to scan the array moduleSun StorEdge A1000

798-0508-01Sun StorEdge LibMON 2.0 is currently supported on Solaris(TM) operating environment releases 2.5.1 and 2.6. Thus, customers wanting to run StorEdge LibMON/LibAgent 2.0 on Solaris 7 are unable to do so. In response to the above mentioned problem with StorEdge LibMON 2.0, patches 108014-01, 108015-01, 108016-01 and 108017-1 have been released to the SunSolve database. (9-23-99)Sun StorEdge L1000

798-0522E10000 systems with an A3X00 attached may encounter Dynamic Reconfiguration errors. System downtime may be required to add entries in /etc/system that identify the rdriver as a DR safe device. Dynamic Reconfiguration (DR) detach of a system board that contains non-pageable memory may fail to quiesce the OS if it is configured with an A3000, A3500, or A3500FC storage array, RM 6.1.1 or 6.22 raid controller software, and Solaris 2.5.1 or 2.6 OS software.Sun StorEdge A1000

798-0522-02The replacement procedure for the SCSI controller board (ESM card) in a D1000 disk array is not well-documented. If the proper procedure is not followed, complications can arise which might lead to data loss. This FIN describes correct ESM replacement procedures and gives examples of additional problems which might occur as a result of an ESM card failure and its subsequent replacement. Replacement of the D1000 ESM card may result in drives being "failed" in one or more drive trays of an A3x00/A3500FC array. A failure of an ESM card will cause the entire D1000 tray to go offline. As a result, all disks in the D1000 tray will go offline until the ESM card is replaced.Sun StorEdge A1000
